The Church of Tomorrow

One of the distinctives of the church that HarleyDad attends, CCUMC, is its emphasis upon children and youth.

This emphasis is a good thing. The children and the youth are tomorrow's church and tomorrow's leadership.

Jesus said that if we were ever to enter the kingdom of heaven we must first become as little children. Jesus was always interested in children. When the disciples decided to keep them away, he told them not to forbid the children from coming to him. Children are a priority of the church.

HarleyDad thinks that sometimes we invest the majority of our resources in the feeding and care of the mature portions of the church. Well, both groups are needed, both the mature church and the young church.

At CCUMC, all workers with children must go through a Safe Sanctuary training that deals with working with children. At a time in which people in religious authority have preyed upon the young, it is important that children at church have a safe and secure environment.

Our children and youth ministry is led by Jaime and Brian, a husband and wife team. Both are outstanding. Jaime is one of the most gifted children's leaders that I have ever met.

Above are some pictures of what goes on with children at our church. I hope that they will tell the picture more eloquently than this blog. The pictures were taken this past Sunday.

No posing. Just people in action.HarleyDad
