Call of Freedom Ride

On Sunday, I went on the Call of Freedom Ride. This ride was a way to raise money and supply phone cards to our troups in Iraq and overseas. The cost of the ride was a $10 phone card contributed to the Troops.

The ride began at the Cycle Connection in Joplin and went to the Veteran's Memorial at Pittsburg State University in Kansas. At the Memorial is an Amphithreater and a one half size replica of the Viet Nam Memorial.

A central part of the Memorial is a sculpture and an oval reflection pool with a "hole in the water" to remind is that something is missing-good men and women who have died for our country and an internal flame burning within the statue.

After the pledge of allegiance and some signing of patriotic songs (bikers don't sing very well because we are tough guys and gals), then it was off to Lincoln Park for some hot dogs.

A great ride. Somewhere around 300 bikes participated. The pictures tell above tell the story.
