The story is told of a rich young man who wanted to follow Jesus. Jesus told him first to go and sell what he had and give to the poor. The young man went away. He could not do it because he was very rich. Jesus commented that it was difficult for the rich to enter into heaven.
The disciples were amazed and asked Jesus who then could EVER get into heaven.
Jesus responded that "With God, all things are possible."
And so it is with getting right with God. In ourselves and left to our own efforts, it is always IMPOSSIBLE .
We find ourselves, at a lost with our own efforts, our own righteousness, and we cry out from the very bottom of our hearts for the help and mercy of God. This help and mercy we call "grace." It is unmerited favor.
So many things in our lives are "impossible." When we outside the family of God, it was impossible to get into the family of God-but here we are. Many of us have lived with impossibilities as our very next door neighbor. But God takes our impossibilities and makes them possibilities.
When we are sick, it seems like it is impossible that we ever get healed. But many times through the mercy of God and the prayers of our brothers and sisters in the family, we are healed.
We have needs that are impossible to meet. But God makes a way where there is no way. The impossible becomes possible with Him.
Our efforts seem to have gone to waste, but with the blessing of God the unfruitful efforts become fruitful.
Some of us have seen our dreams in ruins-but the leader and author of our faith saw His life cut off and experienced death by torture with seemingly nothing to show for His life. But God in heaven said not so! and saw that He had a spiritual family with many brothers and sisters.
His life that was cut off but was renewed with Eternal Life.
Our message. With God all things are possible.
And so I speak to you a message of hope. With God all things are possible.
Do not give up. Do not accept the status quo. Throw yourself on the mercy of God. Pray for the Help of God.
With God, all things are possible.
