It was a Karate weekend for Princessbelle, HarleyDad and Brokerbelle.
Friday evening we watched Princessbelle test for her yellow belt. Princessbelle loves karate; however she has to work hard to do long things in sequencing due to her early nerve damage. She had practiced hard and passed her yellow belt in Karate. She was very excited and we were very excited for her. Also as part of the test, she had to break some boards. Now the training to do this was given to the kids just before they tried it.
We agonized with the kids, most of whom finally broke the boards. The pain was almost intense among the parents as it was in front of the students. Princessbelle broke three boards, one with her fist (hammer style), one by kicking, one by her elbow. Brokerbelle says that you get about 5 tries to do it and if you can not, you try again another day.
On Saturday it was off to a karate tournament in NoShow, Ozarklandia. Great experience. Princessbelle walked off with two Second Place trophies. Her Karate School, run by the Frenchman, got trophy for the best school. Harley riding is good training for sitting on those bleachers with the younger parents.
Karate is a rough sport. However, it teaches respect, honor and discipline. There is also an emphasis on doing well in school--at least that is the way it is taught by the Frenchman.
The Frenchman is gifted at teaching students. There is a great respect between the students and the Frenchman.
Changing topics.
Excellent church service on Sunday. Having been raise without Advent Candles, I love the lighting of the candles for Advent. We also took communion which is always very special.
On Christmas Eve, our church has Christmas communion at 7:00 P.M., 9:00 P.M. and 11:00 P.M. Now to me, that is a great sacrifice by our pastor, but is it ever good client service. Three opportunities to attend very special services.
Changing topics again.
On Saturday, HarleyDad bundled up and headed off into the country for a ride on his Harley. The air was fresh (but cold) and the sky was bright.
On Sunday, a lovely meal with Brokerbelle at the Club. Beautiful Christmas decorations, lovely food, and tolerable bill.
It was a good weekend in Ozarklandia.
