Mom and Dad renew vows in Hawaii with Father Jimmy. It is about time that they finally got the vows right. Posted by Picasa

Parents Get the Bird

Seriously, they finally got the bird. The bird is an eagle and it is bronze.

Now, I have pretty wonderful parents who are special and whose lives have been blessed by God. We are taught by our faith that we keep what we give away. And they have laid up treasures in heaven through their generous giving over the years.

Dad was born in 1920 and Mom in 1922. They have been faithful supporters of Hawaii Baptist Academy in Honolulu, Hawaii and go there once a year to support the school and have served on the HBA Mainland Advisory Council.

HBA is a Baptist School in Hawaii that educates children and in the process many come to Christ along with their families.

Each year my parents go and tell the family that they are really too old to go and this is their last trip. Well, after 5 or 6 years of hearing this, I don't get too worried any more about them not going.

One of the pictures above is a picture of Dick Bento, President of Hawaii Baptist Academy presenting my parents with an Eagle (HBA's mascot is an eagle) for giving over $100,000.00 to the school.

Mom and Dad wrote to us kidding about where our inheritance had gone. Well, all I can say is they left us a richer heritage about generosity, faithfulness, integrity and have demonstrated a good example of being a follower of Christ.

I hate to tell HBA but we got the better deal.

This is the way I am going to hit you says Princessbelle. Just kidding. Addi and some friends. Posted by Picasa

Princessbelle

Princessbelle and the family went to a Karate Tournament in Columbus, Kansas. Princessbelle won in Kata for her age group and in fighting. In the sparring she was in a class of eight that included 6 boys and one other talented girl. The girls got two of the top three places with Princessbelle taking first. Also in competition she became one of the Tornament Champions. Princessbelle had her grandfather there and he was surprised to see her perform that well. She showed courage in her fighting.

Was Dad and Mom pleased. Yes, of course. The trophies are nice but seeing her courage is much nicer. It looks like we have more than one warrior in the family.

Music of the Spheres

Above the level of sound
In the heavens it plays
Angels songs are singing
Around the throne of God

And in the church we are praising
And the angels join us singing
Til we are gloriously transported
Into the very presence of God

At the creation of earth
The angels sang in glory
And at the birth of Christ
The angels sang again

In the resurrection time
All things became new
And the angels sing in joy
A new and wondrous song

And sometimes I think I hear
In Bach, Beethoven and Mozart
A trace of angels songs
Resident in man’s heart.

And I hear angelic song
In the call of the birds in the morning
And in the mothers
Sweet sung lullaby

And I hear the music of creation
As I watch the moon and stars
And then hear it again
At sunrise each morning

It is the music of the spheres
Felt in the rustle of the wind
And resident in the black church
Sung with joyful love.

It is the music of the soul
And it vibrates in my heart
It’s time for my life to vibrate
In tune with the music of the Spheres
.

The Lenten Season

The Lenten Season

Ashes on my forehead
And I hear words of warning
Ashes to Ashes
Dust to Dust

But joy comes in the morning
And my ashes become the oil of gladness
Darkened ash is transformed
To a crown of golden celebration

In the Lenten Season
The sun continues to rise with glory
Because His mercies are new
And are fresh each morning

And the wild geese
They celebrate each morning
No fasting for them
As they wing their way to heaven.

And so in the Lenten Season
My face is bright
And God’s gentle rain
Removes Lenten ashes from the heart

And in my heart
There springs a new song
Of the wonder and glory of God
Like birds sing to celebrate each new day.
