Four of the apostles were fishermen. Mark 1:16-20 says:
As He was going along by the Sea of Gallilee, He saw Simon and Andrew, the brother of Simon, casting a net in the sea; for they were fishermen.
And Jesus said to them:"Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men." Immediately they left their nets and followed Him. Going on a little further, He saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who were also in the boat mending the nets. Immediately He called them; and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went away to follow Him. Yep, Jesus liked fishermen, and they liked him. He wiped out a piece of the local fishing trade when he called his disciples. Poor old Zebedee lost his sons from the family business-but they did make good and went on to become world (or perhaps it is better to say "otherworldly" famous.
God calls his people. In one sense, we leave the nets behind. No longer are we out simply to line our own pocket, but we heed the call of Jesus. And people become more important than fish or the other mundane things of life. We leave our nets-for better nets-for we become fishers of men, seeking to "make a way where there is no way" for people to know Christ and to come into the kingdom of heaven.
Our church CCUMC is run by a fishing fanatic. He is a fisher of men. He is fixated on fishing , and the pictures above will prove it. Further his name is Chris and his email is flyfisherofmen@hotmail.com. Now if you are looking for a church and love fishing, this is the place for you. (HarleyDad hates fishing but loves the church anyway.) At any rate, if you love fishing, write this guy.
Like I said, God loves fishermen.
Above are some pictures that show our church and, I think you will agree, the love of fishing is evidenced both in our services and in the church decorations.

Welcome to Saginaw Valley Leathers
Saginaw Valley Leathers
They like the Stars and Bars here. (Note the outhouse on the side-but there is no new moon on the door. Now that is what I call right neighborly of ya!)
That drive way is steeper than it looks. I guess Brits who are bikers are welcome.
This is the way to Saginaw Valley
Yep, you get to drive through here. Be sure to vroom your engine a few times.
Follow the sign to Sagina Leathers. Note Arch sign behind it.
Customers inside the shop
A Little Biker fellowship often goes on right outside the shop.
We be bad dudes. The Jolly Roger flies high at Saginaw Valley.
Friendly folks ready to help serve you at Saginaw Valley Leathers. I guess Bob trusts his wife and daughter to run the store when he is at rallys.
Saturday was a beautiful day. Great day for a ride out to Saginaw Valley Leathers.
Now if you want cheap but good leathers or other motorcycle merchandise and don't like the Harley merchandise prices, then Saginaw Vally Leathers is for you. Cheap but good, that's what I like.
It is run by Robert Chrisenbery and is located at 9777 Arch Lane, P.O. Box 56, Saginaw, Mo 64864. It is open Wed. through Sunday.
If you need to get in touch with them you can e-mail Bob at Robert7@gbronline.com or call at 417-624-8491. Do-Rags, jackets, boots--They got 'em all-and for a great price.
But it ain't right on the highway like the Harley Place. You take the I-44 Exit 8A S to Saginaw Road and go left to Arch Lane.
Often if Bob is not there, his wife and daughter are-runnin' the store.
Bob and his family are good folks, I guarantee. I even got invited in for supper one evening-and they did not know me from Adam.
Bikers love this place and come from the four states and further to shop here. These are good people doing something right.
I have posted some pictures above. The crowd was sparse today because a rally was in process else where.
After shopping at Saginaw Leathers you can take a break at UnderCliffs. But I am not gonna tell you where it is-you gotta find it yourself. That, after all, is half the fun. But I will show you some pictures so you will know it when you see it.
