Copyright E. Jett 2007China is getting ready for the Olympics. In Beijing, there is construction going on everywhere. The cultural areas, including the Forbidden Palace, the Summer Palace and the Temple of Heaven are getting refurbished, fresh paint etc.
In the U.S. if a city wins the right to hold the Olympics, great preparations are made. In China, the whole country is getting ready to be deluged by foreign visitors.

The characters below are the Olympic symbols and characters. There is one each which has the color of each ring. They are childlike manga characters dressed in cultural clothing and each is the color of one ring.
No dragons or other symbols that might be misconstrued as threatening in a foreign cultures. Just innocent, happy children. It should be quite an Olympics.
Probably more preparation is going into this Olympics than any Olympics in history.
